Art Gallery in Visitor Center
The Maine Coastal Islands Art Gallery is housed upstairs at the National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center on 9 Water Street in Rockland, Maine. All proceeds from purchases support the Friends of Maine Coastal Islands NWR.
Current Show (December 1st – March 26)
Sandi Cirillo of Searsport has been a fiber/mixed media artist for over 25 years specializing in creating artwork that pleases the eye and craves to be touched. Her work reflects her love of traveling throughout Maine and her appreciation of the natural environment around her.
of Lincolnville creates highly detailed original acrylic paintings on birch bark. She collects bark that has fallen from dead trees, cleans, sizes(as nature allows), seals and paints on it. Most of her subjects are birds and animals from her home state of Maine.
Sherrie York, a printmaker from Bristol, shares linocut images of wildlife and their habitats from the ubiquitous chipmunk to the superstar puffin in her exhibit of Flora, Fauna, and Feathers. Through the medium of linocut, Sherrie finds her way to place, inspired by personal experiences and discoveries as she explores the natural world from mountains to the sea.
