Art Gallery in Visitor Center
The Maine Coastal Islands Art Gallery is housed upstairs at the National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center on 9 Water Street in Rockland, Maine. All proceeds from purchases support the Friends of Maine Coastal Islands NWR.
Current Show (May, June, July 2019) – Opening reception is Friday, May 3, 4-7 p.m.
Linda Shepard, Union – Fabric Arts – Animal Alchemy is a collection of interpretive and colorful
creatures made with the intent to celebrate the ordinary. Sometimes with humor, whimsy, reverence or with an eye toward the dream world.
Carl Solberg, Waldoboro – Wood carvings and sculpture – Featuring large wall natural landscapes and full figure floor sculptures using the beauty of American hardwoods to illustrate spaces and instances in nature. As a life-long conservation advocate, he is delighted to have his first local solo show supporting Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge.
Jackson Memorial Library After School Artists – Students from St. George School have taken advantage of the beautiful natural surroundings of their community. Artwork has been created by students in grades 2-5. This exhibit will be up for the month of May only.
